Google’s AI Mode Going Global: Smarter Search, Smart Bookings

Google News About Ai Mode

Google is expanding its AI-powered “AI Mode” in Search to more than 180 countries and territories. Until now, the tool was available only in the US, UK, and India. With this update, millions of people worldwide will be able to try out the chatbot-style search interface, though it still works only in English for now.

According to The Verge, the rollout is one of Google’s biggest pushes to bring generative AI directly into everyday search.

Google is also adding new “agentic” abilities to AI Mode, starting with restaurant reservations. If you are a Google AI Ultra subscriber in the United States, you can ask AI Mode to help with bookings by giving details like the date, time, cuisine, location, and party size.

AI Mode will then check platforms such as OpenTable, Resy, Tock, Ticketmaster, SeatGeek, and Booksy to suggest available options. Once you pick a restaurant, the tool links you directly to the booking page so you can confirm your reservation. This feature was highlighted in a detailed breakdown by TechCrunch.

Personalized Suggestions for U.S. Users

Google is also working on making results feel more personal. Users in the U.S. who are part of the Labs experiment will see dining-related recommendations based on their past searches and preferences.

For example, if you have previously searched for Italian restaurants or vegan food, AI Mode may prioritize those suggestions. As explained by Google’s official blog, personalization can be managed or turned off in your account settings anytime.

Sharing AI Results with Friends

Another update is the option to share AI Mode conversations. U.S. users can now hit the new “Share” button, copy a link, and send it to friends or family.

This lets others jump into the same search and pick up where you left off. Shared links can also be viewed or deleted at any time. Search Engine Land notes this update makes AI Mode more collaborative.

Why It Matters

Google’s expansion of AI Mode is more than just a new search tool. It signals a shift toward making search engines capable of completing real-world tasks like booking tables or buying tickets.

As Search Engine Journal points out, Google is slowly transforming Search into a personal assistant that not only provides answers but also takes action for you.
